Students go to college, among other things, to broaden their horizons.
UD is wonderful institution in which to explore new ideas, new lessons and new people. But, there are some things that cannot be experienced within the confines of a classroom in Dayton, Ohio.
We as students of UD are called to learn, lead and serve. Here enters the Office of Study Abroad to fill in this void. There is perhaps no finer way to learn than to experience different parts of the world.
This is an office whose sole purpose is to help place students in programs to study and live around the world.
Often students fear that it is too expensive to study abroad, but this is not always the case. There are scholarships available and loans to make sure that in one way or another, if a student wishes earnestly to learn abroad, he or she will be able to.
If these programs do not reach the needed number of students, however, they will have to be cancelled.
This is not beneficial to anyone, so if you feel like seeing parts of the world like Paris or London, here is your chance!
In the past, there has been some difficulty filling the programs. Perhaps the lack of an overwhelming response to want to study abroad is a compliment to UD. Student who come here want to stay here. But, nevertheless, the sorts of experiences that can be had on these trips are impossible to experience on any campus across the country, including UD. There is still time to register for summer programs and space is available as well as planning for next semester.
The trips in the summer can serve as a great resource for those wanting to participate but do not want to be away from friends and family during the school year.
It is a great alternative and one that should not go unnoticed.
If you came to college to have experiences you could not find anywhere, studying abroad is definitely one such experience.
