Something happened earlier this week that reinforced a belief I devoutly hold to be true. Debra Lafave (an attractive 25 year old blonde woman) had her charges (sex with a 14 year old boy) dropped, although prior to this she pleaded guilty to a similar charge in a different case. The belief I have is that women don't have to obey the law.
I'm an advocate of the 14th amendment, quite possibly one of the best amendments, second only to the 21st (ask a teacher). This 14th amendment guarantees equal protection of law to all citizens.
We've all heard the 'short skirts and crying' traffic ticket deflector. I've personally never tried this. This is a stereotype which has etched itself into social urban legend. But how real is this? Are women really above the law?
This Debra Lafave character had sex (multiple times) with a 14 year old boy (also her student). By legal definition this is statutory rape. Debra was sentenced to two years house arrest for COMMITING STATUTORY RAPE. That's a pretty sweet deal considering what happened to Mathew Koso.
Mathew (age 22) is married (with a child) to a girl (age 14) in Nebraska. While both Mathew, his spouse, and his spouse's parents contend this relationship is legitimate, Mathew faces up to 50 years in prison. It appears Mathew's gender is, by default, criminal. On the contrary, Debra's gender is by default, non predatory, and in her own words 'very remorseful.'
I'm sure Debra isn't a bad person. However she did commit the easiest crime in the world, seducing a 14-year-old boy. Essentially Debra is the kind of person who fishes with dynamite. It's pretty funny to think about but only a real wackjob would do it.
Some contend that attractive blonde twenty-somethings should be encouraged to alleviate boys of their burdensome hormones. This would be a 'molestation' of the 14th amendment. Let me extrapolate this. It's no secret Texas likes to hand out capital punishment (even to people who are legally retarded).
Andrea Yates drowned her own five children in a bathtub. She got life in prison. Good job Texas, the crime really fits the punishment. Last time I checked murder (not to mention double, triple, quadruple or quintuple homicide) warrants capital punishment.
I'm not an advocate of the death penalty. I haven't passed the BAR, so maybe the punishment does fit the crime. Murdering your own offspring requires 'rehabilitation' not 'punishment.'
Debra got house arrest and a life time of being called bad things. This is really harsh, considering if the genders had been switched Debra Lafave would spend the next ten years braiding Bubba's hair in San Quentin. WOW! I sure do feel bad for her.
So please America, let me engage in lewd behavior with someone eleven years younger than me. But I'd like to just get house arrest so we can live happily ever after, and maybe have a few kids. And maybe I'll decide I don't want any of those kids and murder them. But after that I'd like to not get the death penalty. Is that really too much to ask?
