W. Bruce Cameron, author of the best-selling book 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter, will speak at a free event at the University of Dayton Oct. 14.
Cameron will speak about his latest work at noon in VWK meeting room 141M. A book signing will follow.
Cameron will also appear Thursday, Oct. 13 at a Junior League of Dayton event. In addition, he will appear at Books and Co. in Towne and Country Center on October 14 at 7 p.m. to sign books.
Cameron is a self-proclaimed expert on males, and his latest offering, How to Remodel a Man, provides the reader simple instructions and antidotes about the male species. Cameron answers puzzling questions about the male species with clever humor.
In an interview posted on his Web site, http://www.wbrucecameron.com, he talks about some of the questions that he addresses in his new book.
'I describe a couple of proven techniques that can be used to combat refrigerator blindness,' he said. 'I tackle the issue of leaving the toilet seat up, of socks that land in front of or on top of but not in the hamper, how to get a man to eat right, dress better, exercise more, how to make a man more sensitive and the horror of feng shui. Plus snoring, sports, listening'stuff like that.'
The New York Times best-selling book, 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter was adapted into the ABC television sit-com starring the late John Ritter. How to Remodel a Man is currently in development to become a network television series as well.
Cameron is also a syndicated newspaper columnist. In 2003 he won the National Society of Newspaper Columnists' competition for humorous writing. Cameron's writing style has been compared to Dave Barry and Erma Bombeck. In his syndicated column, he frequently writes about his dog and three children.
Cameron is featured this month in Oprah's magazine, O, and will appear on Oprah's daytime talk show sometime in the near future.
Cameron originally hails from Petoskey, Mich. He sold his first story at the age of 16 for $50 to the Kansas City Star. He received a bachelor's degree from Westminster College. Cameron started as a freelance writer with an online column, which eventually grew to over 40,000 subscribers in 52 countries.
Cameron will appear at UD thanks to the Professional Office Personnel, the Erma Bombeck Writers' workshop and the UD Bookstore.
