Get ready for spring prime-time TV line-up

Ah, spring...the time for blooming flowers, heavy rainfall, and television networks' attempts for a hot new hit for the season. The failure or success of a new television show hinges on viewership, and the cable and big time networks have a brand new line-up of 'Grey's Anatomy' hopefuls.

Following its recent success, ABC is the front runner with three new spring TV shows. 'Knights of Prosperity,' Wednesdays at 9 p.m., plays off of viewers' love for the underdog and follows a group of average Joes who are sick of playing it nice and safe all their lives. With a Robin Hood-esque mindset, the gang begins to desperately plot a heist to finance their big dreams that, for one reason or another, hasn't come true. The target? Mick Jagger's New York apartment.

Sharing 'Knights'' Wednesday spot, 'In Case of Emergency' tries to answer the age old question, 'And who would you like us to contact in case of an emergency'? Four high school friends, out of contact for years and each struggling with personal demons, randomly find themselves reuniting at the Los Angles Westside Hospital under either emotional or physical duress. The comedy stars America's favorite aunt, Lori Loughlin as Dr. Joanna, 'David Arquette of 'Scream' fame, Greg Germann, and several newcomers. The friends explore life lessons, universal truths, and incorporate a bit of slapstick. Catch this show Wednesdays at 9:30.

'Traveler' is also a new, much-anticipated drama. Its plot line follows three best friends who are identified as suspects in a terrorist bombing that destroys one of New York's most famous museums. Trying to prove their innocence with evidence that just doesn't add up, the men must prove that they were framed before it's too late. ABC has yet to announce the day and time slot. Keep your eyes peeled for further details.

These shows may have some competition, however, with the CBS network airing 'Armed & Famous' and 'Rules of Engagement.' Embracing the reality TV movement, 'Armed & Famous,' Wednesdays at 8 p.m., trails celebrities as cops-in-training with the Muncie, Ind. police force. Among the officer hopefuls are Jackass's 'Wee Man,' Jack Osbourne and LaToya Jackson. The show promises to even throw a few tasers into the mix. Now that's great TV.

'Rules of Engagement' plays it more on the safer side, following an already been there premise of five friends battling their way through the throws of dating and love. There is a married couple, an engaged couple, and the quintessential bachelor friend. Empathize-at-will with these characters Mondays at 9:30 p.m.

So, if you like what you see and wish for these shows to stay, forget those New Year's resolutions of working out and park yourself back on that couch. Bathing suit season isn't for at least two more months, but your new favorite show may disappear after a mere couple of episodes.
