Students may notice a career fair on campus every time they turn their head. However, a new opportunity has arisen at UD.

The first Criminal Justice Studies Career & Internship Fair will be held today from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the fourth floor of the College Park Center.

'[Students] could walk in and potentially be interviewed on the spot,' Brianna Remster said.

Remster is a senior criminal justice studies and sociology major. She is also the research assistant for the criminal justice studies program and has been coordinating the career fair since October.

'We've been working hard to get as many agencies as we can to come to the fair,' she said.

The Ohio Council of Criminal Justice Education, of which UD is a part, has been integral in the arrangement of the career fair. They donated $1,000 toward the career fair.

'By their contribution, we were able to make the career fair possible,' Remster said.

The council also advertised the event on their Web site to attract groups and organizations to come. Remster credits this advertisement with attracting agencies from across the country.

There will be police departments from as far as Dallas, Texas, and Glendale, Ariz. The Dallas Police Department is looking to hire 250 officers, the most of any organization at the career fair.

'There will be a good variety of several local agencies, medium-sized departments, and larger departments,' Remster said.

She expects up to 1,000 students will visit the career fair today; allowing for huge success in the first year of the event.
