Dr. Curran's sister passes away
Anne Ognosky, President Daniel Curran's younger sister, died Sept. 4, 2006, in Waymart, Pa. She had pheochromocytoma, a rare form of cancer, and was 54.
According to The Wayne Independent, Ms. Ognosky was employed as a fourth grade teacher in the Western Wayne School District for the past 25 years. She was actively involved as a building representative and belonged to the Western Wayne Education Association and the Pennsylvania State Education Association. Several teachers have commented to Curran about Anne being a public voice for the school.
'Anne loved forming children at a young age,' Curran said. 'She lived for children and seeing her daughters happy and successful.'
Ms. Ognosky is survived by two daughters, Lisa Ognosky and her fianc??e, of Waymart, and Kathryn Hagon and her husband, of London, England; brother Daniel Curran and wife Claire Renzetti, of Dayton; and brother Michael J. Curran and his wife, of Columbia, Md.
Friends were received in Pennsylvania Thursday and a memorial mass was held Friday, following Ms. Ognosky's cremation.
'Anne had been sick for about a decade, but her passing was very sudden,' Curran said. 'It was a blessing that her daughter got to spend the last three weeks with her before her death.'
