Two more Dayton club teams continued their successful seasons over the past few weeks. Ultimate Frisbee and softball both turned in productive finishes in their recent tournaments.
Club softball finished with a record of 3-1 in "The Flyer Frenzie" tournament Saturday, April 10 at West Carrolton High School. The team lost its second game to Ohio Northern 8-5, falling into an early deficit overall.
The club recovered with a four-run victory over Indiana to advance to the championship game and a rematch against the pesky Polar Bears from Ada, Ohio.
UD succeeded in its quest for revenge and took down ONU by the final score of 6-2. Overall, the team out-scored their opponents by a margin of 23-13 in its four games.
Meanwhile, the ultimate team, featured in a
Flyer News sports article from last week, qualified for its regional tournament for the fourth consecutive year.
The team swept all five of its contests Saturday, April 17 in its section tournament outside of Columbus and then defeated Oberlin College Sunday to advance to the regional.
A tournament scheduling error had originally slated the club to go straight to the semifinals. But their quarterfinal win over Oberlin was all that was needed for the aptly-named
Ghetto Force team.
It has been an awesome year for all UD sports, and the club teams are continuing the success as well. Lacrosse is ranked second in the nation, while these two teams are not too far behind.
