Crime Log - October 19, 2007


The following incidents were reported to the Department of Public Safety between Sept. 30 and Oct. 15.
This log was compiled by Flyer News from actual police reports obtained from the Department of Public Safety.

Criminal Mischief
Sept. 30, 3:18 a.m.

Officer Pease went to Stuart Hall Sept. 30 around 3 a.m. in reference to a fire alarm. He checked the fire alarm panel to see where the alarm was coming from and saw that it had been set off in the second floor lounge. He went to the lounge to try to silence the alarm. He saw a fire had been discharged in the room and he aired out the room to stop the alarm. He contacted Maintenance and asked them to check the room. There are no suspects.

Criminal Damaging
Oct. 6, 2:46 a.m.

Officer Schaefer went to a university-owned house on Kiefaber Street in regard to criminal damaging. The complainant said that someone had kicked the front door of his house. He had left the house around 1:45 a.m. and when he returned at 2:30 a.m. there was a muddy footprint on the door and the wood was splintered around the doorknob area. There had been no entry into the house and the deadbolt was locked and still intact.

Criminal Damaging
Oct. 8, 4:42 p.m.

Officer Orrill went to S2 parking lot the night of Oct. 8 around 5:30 p.m. He met with a female UD student who wanted to report a damaged vehicle. The student said she noticed damage had been done to her silver Ford Focus, which was parked in S2. She had parked her vehicle in S2 Oct. 5 at 5 p.m. and when she returned Oct. 8 the driver's side mirror was broken off. The mirror was hanging by the electrical wires. There are no suspects.

Theft Petty
Oct. 9, 11:26 a.m.

Officer Parmenter met with a male staff member in a room in Frericks Center regarding a theft. The staff member said that sometime between 8:15 p.m. the day before and 7:15 a.m. Oct. 8, someone had entered his locked office and taken 10 Nike workout shirts and three charger cords. The shirts were used for working out in the weight center and the chargers were for his personal electronic devices. There was no forced entry.

Criminal Damaging
Oct. 15, 6:42 p.m.

Officer Barber met with a male UD student on Kiefaber Street in regards to a criminal damaging report. The complainant said that sometime between 8 p.m. Oct. 10 and 6:30 p.m. Oct. 15 someone had dented the left rear door of his 2001 Black Chevrolet Tracker. He had been out of town and left his car on Kiefaber Street on the north side of the road. Officer Barber took photographs of the damage to have available for the victim's insurance company.
