Crime Log - November 16, 2007


The following incidents were reported to the Department of Public Safety between Nov 2. and Nov. 6.
This log was compiled by Flyer News from actual police reports obtained from the Department of Public Safety.

Criminal Damaging
Nov. 2, 2:47 p.m.

Sergeant Snyder was dispatched to a house on Stonemill Road on the report of damaged property. When he arrived, he met with one resident, a 21-year-old male, who said that sometime between 7 p.m. Oct. 25 and 7 p.m. Oct. 31 someone had broken the outer pane of a bedroom window on the first floor. The inner pane was not broken. A baseball bat was lying in the yard, possibly the object that caused the damage.

Criminal Damaging
Nov. 4, 1:20 p.m.

Officer Durian was dispatched to Stonemill Road in reference to a damaged vehicle. The complainant, a 21-year-old male UD student, said that Nov. 4 around 2 a.m. he had parked his black Eagle Talon in front of a residence on the 400 block of Stonemill. When he returned he found that the front windshield had been shattered. The complainant speculated that the smashed pumpkins throughout the block may have caused the damage.

Criminal Damaging
Nov. 4, 3:10 p.m.

A 20-year-old UD student stopped Officer Foreman to report that his front windshield had been shattered during the time it was parked on the 100 block of Evanston Avenue. The complainant had parked his 1990 Gray Geo Prizm four-door two days earlier and upon his return he found the damaged windshield. It appeared as if someone had jumped on the vehicle and sat heavily on the windshield, causing it to shatter and putting dents on the hood.

Burglary
Nov. 5, 12:27 p.m.

Officer Stephen Durian was dispatched to the UD police station at College Park Center in reference to a burglary complaint. A 19-year-old female student said that her wallet was missing from her dorm room in Marycrest Complex. She last had her wallet Nov. 3. She left her room to go to the cafeteria and left her room unlocked. The Gucci leopard print wallet, $100 value, was holding her Day Air debit card. She found that $359.05 was missing.

Petty Theft
Nov. 6, 8:49 p.m.

Officer Barber met with a 19-year-old male student at the RecPlex about a theft complaint. The male said that between 8 and 8:30 p.m. someone had taken his 'UD Flyer' backpack from the cubby area on the third floor. The backpack contained a black iPod, value $270; black workout gloves, value $10; keys, value $100; a UD Campus OneCard, value $20; and a UD lanyard, value $5. The student said it was possible someone took his bag.
