Crime Log - December 04, 2007


The following incidents were reported to the Department of Public Safety between Nov 4. and Nov. 27.
This log was compiled by Flyer News from actual police reports obtained from the Department of Public Safety.

Criminal Damaging
Nov. 4, 8:32 a.m.

Officer Durian was sent to RP16 parking lot, at the rear of Evanston Avenue, in reference to a criminal damage complaint. He met with a 21-year-old female UD student, who said that she had parked her 1994 Toyota Camry in RP16 parking lot at 10 p.m. Nov. 3. The woman stated that a piece of concrete had shattered her rear windshield completely and had shattered the front windshield, but it was still intact. Officer Durian received a witness statement.

Criminal Damaging
Nov. 4, 11:32 a.m.

Officer Durian was dispatched to S2 parking lot in reference to a criminal damage complaint. The male UD student said that he had parked his 1995 Pontiac in S2 lot Nov. 3 around 4 p.m. and that when he returned around 11:30 a.m. Nov. 4 there was damage done to the vehicle. His front windshield was shattered but still intact and the side mirror was knocked loose form his vehicle. Officer Durian received a witness statement.

Criminal Damaging
Nov. 4, 2:38 p.m.

Officer Durian was dispatched to P lot in reference to a damaged vehicle. The 19-year-old female visitor said that she had parked her gold VW Jetta in P lot the day before around 2 a.m. She said that when she returned to her vehicle around 10:30 a.m. Nov. 4 the driver's side mirror had been damaged. The mirror's casing was sitting on the hood of the vehicle. The visitor will not be filing a claim with her insurance, but she did complete a written statement.

Criminal Damaging
Nov. 20, 6:03 p.m.

Officer Barber was dispatched to S2 lot in regard to a complaint for criminal damaging to a vehicle. He met with the 21-year-old UD student, who said that sometime between 8 a.m. Nov. 17 and 6 p.m. Nov. 20 someone had broken off the driver's side view mirror on the vehicle. The damaged vehicle is a 2001 Chrysler Sebring and the damage is worth about $200. The student filled out a written statement regarding the damage to his vehicle.

Petty Theft
Nov. 27, 1:12 p.m.

Officer Foreman was dispatched to the lobby of the Music/Theater Building on the report of a stolen backpack. He met with the complainant, a 19-year-old female, who said that around noon she had left her backpack unattended on a wooden bench next to the music lab in the hallway of the building. When she returned after about three minutes, it was gone. It is black with white lettering that says 'Targus.' The items have a value of about $200.
