Crime Log - January 18, 2008
The following incidents were reported to the Department of Public Safety between Nov. 20, 2007, and Jan. 12, 2008. This log was compiled by Flyer News from actual police reports obtained from the Department of Public Safety.
Criminal Damaging
Nov. 20, 6:03 p.m.
Officer Barber was sent to the S2 parking lot on the report of criminal damaging to a vehicle. He met with a 21-year-old complainant who said that sometime between 8 a.m. Nov. 17 and 6 p.m. Nov. 20 someone had broken off the side view mirror on his car. The UD student said the damage done to his 2001 Chrysler Sebring is estimated at $200. The victim filed a written statement regarding the damage done to his car.
Theft Petty
Dec. 2, 1:19 p.m.
Officer Russell was sent to a residence on Frericks Way on the report of a theft. He met with the complainant, a 20-year-old UD student, who said that an unknown person had taken her property of value. The female said that a multi-colored Santa and sled measuring 5 feet by 5 feet was taken from her front porch sometime between 8 p.m. and midnight Dec. 1. The outside decoration was valued at $100. There were no witnesses or suspects.
Criminal Damaging
Dec. 10, 12 p.m.
Officer Durian was called to the University of Dayton's S2 lot in reference to a damaged vehicle. She met with a 20-year-old male UD student who said that around Nov. 26 he had parked his car in the S2 lot. When he returned to his brown Pontiac Grand Am around noon he noticed the driver's side mirror had been broken. The complainant did not know of any possible suspects. He said he would not be completing an insurance claim.
Criminal Damaging
Dec. 14, 6:20 p.m.
Officer Orrill was dispatched to a university-owned residence on Lowes Street on the report of criminal damaging. He met with the 21-year-old UD male student who said that while he and a roommate were taking down their Christmas decorations they noticed damage to their house. The outer pane of their front window has been broken. The last time he saw the window intact was when a maintenance worker was working on the front porch light.

Jan. 12, 5:26 p.m.
Officer Barber was dispatched to a non-UD owned residence on Kiefaber Street on a criminal damaging report. He met with a 20-year-old UD student who said that sometime between 8 p.m. Jan. 11 and the early morning Jan. 12 someone had damaged her car. An unknown person had broken the housing on the passenger side view mirror of the car. The car had been parked behind her house on Kiefaber Street. The victim filed a statement.
