Crime Log - January 25, 2008
Burglary
Jan. 14, 8:21 a.m.
Officer A. Durian was dispatched to a residence on Evanston Avenue on the report of a burglary. She met with two male residents who said Jan. 14 at 2:15 a.m. they had locked and chained the front and back doors of their house and gone to bed. When they awoke they found their television in the middle of the floor and a Samsung five-disk DVD player and nine DVDs missing. The only window that was unlocked was in the dining room.
Theft
Jan. 14, 2:57 p.m.
Officer A. Durian met with a complainant in the UD police department in reference to a theft. The 18-year-old male student said that Dec. 8 he was at a party on Alberta Street. He let his sister borrow his black, 80-gigabyte iPod. The next morning the iPod, valued at $399, was missing. Also, he said that Jan. 11 he forgot his Motorola Q cell phone in a Meyer Hall bathroom stall on the seventh floor. About five minutes later it was gone.
Theft
Jan. 16, 7:36 a.m.
Officer Foreman was dispatched to a parking lot north of Marianist Hall on the report of a missing traffic bollard. He met with a Department of Facilities Management employee who said that one of the black bollards was missing from the intersection of G lot and C lot, near the UD Bookstore. It is valued at $900 and disappeared sometime between 4 p.m. Jan. 11 and 9 a.m. Jan. 14. There are no suspects and the loss may be covered by insurance.
Petty Theft
Jan. 16, 12:50 p.m.
An Alpha Omega cleaning service employee contacted Sergeant Snyder at police headquarters about missing work boots. He stated that he had been absent from work between 1:30 p.m. Jan. 11 and 4 a.m. Jan. 15. During that time someone had taken his tan suede Timberland boots with yellow laces, size 9.5, from Marianist Hall. He said that they are kept in a closet that is usually locked. A limited number of employees have the keys.
Burglary
Jan. 16, 9:32 p.m.
Officer Rohrer was dispatched to a residence on Woodland Avenue on the report of a theft. The Dayton Police Department had been at the location earlier in the night on reports of a black male carrying electronic items from a house. When meeting with three residents, Rohrer found that a DVD player, remote and several DVDs had been taken. Rohrer spoke to the DPD who gave him a description of the male in a green jacket and black hat.
