Crime Log - February 01, 2008
The following incidents were reported to the Department of Public Safety between Jan. 17 and Jan. 20, 2008.

Theft
Jan. 17, 11:40 a.m.A male contacted Officer Sweigart stating that someone had used his Day Air Visa debit card Nov. 27 to make an unauthorized ATM withdrawal for $96.95. It was to the E Commerce Group, Dayton, Ohio. The male had his card with him and is unsure how someone got his card information. He found out about the stolen money through a Day Air e-mail. Sweigart advised the male to go to the UD Day Air Credit Union and obtain more information.
Theft
Jan. 18, 9:18 a.m.
Officer Russell was dispatched to the Mechanical Engineering Building on the report of the theft of diesel fuel. He met with the UD staff member who said someone had taken 220 gallons of diesel fuel between Dec. 28 and Jan. 18. The diesel fuel tank is located in a fenced, locked area in a southeast corner of the Engineering building. The fuel nozzle is also locked and both locks were in place. The cost of the stolen fuel is $660.
Petty Theft
Jan. 19, 3:52 p.m.
Sergeant Swank received a report of a theft from the RecPlex. He met with the male who said someone had stolen his cell phone from the men's locker room, located on the first floor. He found that someone had stolen the Motorola Razor and UD room key Jan. 1. He said that at 1 p.m. Jan. 19 a friend received a call from his stolen cell phone. The caller said he bought the stolen phone on the street for $30 and would give it back if he reimbursed him.
Criminal Damaging
Jan. 19, 5:31 p.m.
Officer Weber was dispatched to K Street in reference to damage to a car. He met with the 21-year-old female student who said that she had parked her car at 10 a.m. Jan. 18. When she returned at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 19 she discovered that her four-door white 1998 Acura Integra had damage to the rear driver's side fender. The dent appeared to be done by someone kicking it. Her driver's side mirror was also torn off. The victim said she suspects a friend did it.
Criminal Damaging
Jan. 20, 5:18 p.m.
Officer Barber was dispatched to a university-owned residence on the report of criminal damage. He met with the 21-year-old UD student who said that sometime between Jan. 18 and 3:30 Jan. 20 an unknown person had smashed the front windshield of her 1998 Honda Accord in the AS lot. The broken windshield is the only noticeable damage at the time. Barber suggested she turn in an insurance report and request a copy. A statement was obtained.
