Crime Log - March 04, 2008


The following incidents were reported to the Department of Public Safety between Feb. 3 and Feb. 24, 2008. This log was compiled by Flyer News from actual police reports obtained from the Department of Public Safety.

Criminal Damaging

Feb. 3, 1:25 p.m.

Officer S. Durian was dispatched to the RecPlex in reference to a criminal damage complaint. He met with a 20-year-old female RecPlex employee who said that a lifeguard had informed her about a shattered window in the aquatic area of the RecPlex. A rock was located on the ground below the window, which was the second level window in the north end of the area. It was completely shattered but the glass remained intact.

Theft

Feb. 6, 12:20 p.m.

Officer Cloyd noticed a damaged parked vehicle during his routine patrol in the Darkside. It was in the house permit parking lot north of Rogge Street. The driver's side window was broken and glass was on the ground and in the driver's seat. The interior of the car was wet due to rain. The damage was not on record so the owner was contacted. The student said that when she had parked her car Feb. 5 there was no damage.

Burglary

Feb. 23, 1:00 a.m.

Officer Rohrer was dispatched to Kiefaber Street on the report of a burglary. The house's resident said he had returned home to find his bedroom door had been forced open. Sometime between midnight and 1 a.m. someone had entered the unlocked residence and forced open his bedroom door. There was nothing missing from the room but the doorjamb and lock plate were destroyed. There were no other signs of force on the door.

Burglary

Feb. 24, 12:35 a.m.

Officer Pease responded to a dispatcher's call of a burglary on Irving Avenue. A student said she had returned to her apartment around 12:23 a.m. and saw the back door was open. She called out her roommates' names before entering and found a male in his 30s with a beard and 'buzzed' hair standing in her bedroom. He shut her door and she ran to her boyfriend's home and called 911. Nothing was missing and there was no sign of forced entry.

Criminal Mischief

Feb. 24, 3:22 p.m.

Officer S. Durian was dispatched to a residence on Kiefaber Street on the report of a criminal mischief report. He met with a 22-year-old female who said she found condiments squirted on her residence. Several areas on the front had been covered in mustard. The front window next to the front door was covered in ketchup. The upper portion of the house had been egged. The resident said she had been up until 4 a.m. and it happened after that.
