Criminal Damaging
March 14, 10:57 a.m.
Officer Foreman was dispatched to a room of the Mechanical Engineering Building on UD's campus on a criminal damaging report. He met with a 61-year-old male UD professor who said he noticed there were several holes in the walls. The professor said they seemed to be projectile holes in the south wall and holes in another room in the building. Officer Foreman reported that they appeared to be screw holes from some type of air gun. There was a similar incident that occurred and was reported Jan. 17. On that occasion, the weapon was believed to have been found and confiscated. While it appears as if in this incident the projectiles were the same types of screws, no screws were found and neither was a weapon. The professor took photographs in the south walls of rooms number five and seven in the Mechanical Engineering building. There was no other damaged and nothing appeared to have been taken.
Criminal Damaging
March 14, 1:23 p.m.
Officer A. Durian was dispatched to the lobby of the College Park Center on the report of vehicle damaging. She met with a 20-year-old female UD student who said around 6 p.m. March 7 a friend had parked her 2002 Mercedes in the S2 parking lot. When the student returned to her car, she found the driver's side mirror had been completely broken off of the car. Her front license plate had also been bent but was still functional. The woman said she did not know if she would be filing a claim with her insurance company and did not know the name of the company, which she could find out later. She said she was going to call home to Indiana during the weekend and talk to her parents for a decision about filing a claim. Officer Durian advised her to call the UD Police Department with her insurance information that afternoon. The student is unsure of the cost of the damage and did complete a written statement.
Theft
March 14, 4:32 p.m.
Officer A. Durian met with a UD student in Stuart Hall on the report of a theft. The man said around 6 p.m. March 7 he had done laundry in Stuart's laundry room. He put his laundry in the dryer and left. He returned and took the laundry up to his room around 7:15 p.m. He did not go through his laundry until March 14 and he found his three gray The North Face items missing. He estimated they were worth about $600, and 'K. Jones' was written on the tags.
