Crime Log - November 22, 2005


The following incidents were reported to the Department of Public Safety between November 5 and November 7. This log was compiled by Flyer News from actual police reports obtained from the Department of Public Safety.

Criminal Damaging

November 5, 10:58 p.m.

Officer Cloyd was dispatched to a university owned residence on Stonemill Road in reference to a damaged screen. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with the complainant, a UD student, who stated that she had left the residence for several hours that day. When she left, she had opened the window, and upon her return found that the screen had been cut out of the window. The complainant stated that she and her roommates had not found anything missing from the house. There was no sign of illegal entry. There was no additional damage, and the cost to make repairs was unknown at the time.

Criminal Damaging

November 6, 1:01 a.m.

After receiving a report of damage to a motor vehicle, Officer Fritz was dispatched to G lot. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with a UD student who stated that she had parked her 1971 Volkswagen Beetle in the lot and left it for about an hour. When she returned, she found that the brake light assembly had been broken and was in pieces on the ground near the vehicle. There were also several scratches in the paint and damage to the rubber trim on the bumper. No paint transfer was located, and there was no evidence of a collision with another vehicle. The cost for repairs is currently unknown.

Theft

November 6, 5:16 p.m.

A UD student met with Officer Deak in Benisek Hall to report the theft of her bicycle. The student stated that she had secured her bicycle in the basement of Marycrest Complex during the last week of September using a chain and combination lock. She had recorded the combination on a note, which she had placed on her desk in her dorm room. When she went to retrieve her bicycle on November 4, she found the lock and chain still in place but the bicycle gone. The bicycle, a turquoise Bianchi, was valued at $300. There are no known suspects at this time.

Burglary

November 6, 9:02 p.m.

A UD student met with officer Durian in Benisek Hall to report the theft of several items from his dorm room. The student stated that he lived in Marycrest Complex. On the night of the reported theft, he had left his room unlocked for about an hour and a half before returning and going to bed. When he woke up the next morning, he found that his Tangent laptop computer and his X-Box were both missing. There are no known suspects at this time.

Petty Theft

November 7, 11:46 a.m.

Officer Durian was dispatched to the circle next to St. Joseph's Hall in reference to a theft. The officer met with the complainant, a UD employee, who stated that he had recently noticed the rear license plate to a UD owned concession trailer was missing. The trailer, which had been parked near the rear of St. Joseph's Hall, had been there for about three days. The license plate number was recorded after it was provided by the employee's supervisor.
