Crime Log - January 27, 2006
The following incidents were reported to the Department of Public Safety between January 17 and January 24. This log was compiled by Flyer News from actual police reports obtained from the Department of Public Safety.Criminal Trespass
January 17, 1:32 a.m.
Officer Orrill was on patrol behind Chambers Street when he observed a white male in a black trench coat digging through a trash can. He approached and identified the man, and asked what he was doing. The man stated that he was collecting aluminum cans to get a pack of cigarettes. The dispatcher advised Officer Orrill that there were no warrants or Trespass Warnings for the man, but that Public Safety had dealt with him several times before. The man was issued a Criminal Trespass Warning and left the area when asked.
Theft
January 21, 4:50 p.m.
Officer Jolly met with a complainant at Benisek Hall on a report of a theft. The complainant stated that she parked her white GEO Prism in the S2 parking lot on January 20 at 9 p.m. She stated that when she went to leave on January 21 at 4 p.m., she noticed that her Pink 'Guess' brand luggage bag containing several clothing items, valued at approximately $500, was missing from the back seat of her car. The complainant stated that her rear driver's side door does not properly lock.
Criminal Damaging
January 21, 5:45 p.m.
Officer Weber was dispatched to the S2 parking lot in reference to criminal damaging. He met with a complainant who stated that she parked her white 2001 Honda Civic on January 19 at 7:30 p.m., and when she returned to her car on January 21 at 5:45 p.m., she found that the passenger side mirror was broken off her car. There was no other damage to her car or evidence to be located.

January 23, 12:55 a.m.
Officers Pease, Little and Cloyd went to Marycrest on a possible drug abuse complaint. After checking the area and not finding any suspected drug use, Officer Little noticed that the emergency exit sign and the fire alarm box on the fourth floor were broken. Officer Cloyd spoke to a resident of the room nearest to the damage, who stated that the sign was not damaged upon his departure around noon on January 21, and both were damaged upon his return around 1 a.m. on January 22. The total cost of the damage is about $525.

Theft
January 23, 10:24 a.m.
Officer Russell was dispatched to Benisek Hall, where he contacted a complainant who stated that an unknown person had broken into her vehicle and taken property. Entry was made into the blue 2003 Honda Civic by breaking through the sunroof of the vehicle. An in-dash stereo, a wristwatch and $160 in cash were taken. The vehicle was parked behind a residence on Alberta Street at 10:30 p.m. on January 22 and the damage was found at 5:50 a.m. on January 23.
Theft
January 24, 5:39 p.m.
Officer Weber met with a complainant at Benisek Hall regarding a theft. The complainant stated that around 2 a.m. on January 22, an unknown person took her black and white purse off the kitchen table. The purse, valued at $15, contained her silver Verizon cell phone, valued at $250, and $3 in change. The complainant contacted Verizon on Sunday morning and had her cell phone turned off. There are no suspects at this time.
