Crime Log - February 14, 2006


The following incidents were reported to the Department of Public Safety between February 3 and February 9. This log was compiled by Flyer News from actual police reports obtained from the Department of Public Safety.

Theft

February 3, 10:55 a.m.

Officer Parmenter met with a UD student at Benisek Hall regarding the theft of a wallet. The complainant stated that on February 2 at around 5 p.m., she was on the second floor of Roesch Library making copies. She stated that she got up from her desk and left her purse and laptop computer sitting alone. When she left the library at around 5:30 p.m., she noticed that her white and black leather Kenneth Cole tri-fold wallet was missing from her purse. The complainant stated that she did not report the missing wallet right away because she wanted to be sure that she had not left it anywhere else. She stated that she did not notice anyone unusual in the area where she was working and did not see anyone go near her property. The wallet, valued at $25, contained eight credit cards and her driver's license. The complainant stated that she had already contacted all of her credit card providers and reported the cards stolen. There are no known suspects or witnesses at this time.

Petty Theft

February 7, 12:42 p.m.

Officer Arnold responded to Frericks Way on a report of a missing or stolen City of Dayton trash receptacle. He met with a UD student who stated that around February 2, the City of Dayton trash receptacle for his house was stolen. The complainant stated that he did not know of any suspects or witnesses.

Criminal Damaging

February 9, 4:37 p.m.

Officer Parmenter was dispatched to the S2 parking lot in response to a damaged vehicle report. Upon arrival he met with the complainant, who stated that her red 2002 Ford Focus SE was parked in the S2 parking lot near the RecPlex on February 4 around 6 p.m. Upon her return to the vehicle on February 8 around 1 p.m., she noticed that the driver side mirror was damaged. The mirror was hanging by the electrical wires only. There are no witnesses or suspects at this time.

Theft

February 9, 5:09 p.m.

Officer Orrill was dispatched to Marycrest Hall on the report of a stolen or lost check. The complainant stated that she was missing a check from her book bag. She stated that she placed the check in her book bag at approximately 8 p.m. on February 6 and noticed it was missing at approximately 3 p.m. on February 9. She contacted the bank and issued a stop payment notice on the missing check. She had filled out the amount for $162.00, had left the rest of the check blank, and had not signed the check. There are no witnesses or suspects at this time.
