Crime Log - March 03, 2006
The following incidents were reported to the Department of Public Safety between February 22 and February 26. This log was compiled by Flyer News from actual police reports obtained from the Department of Public Safety.Grand Theft Auto
February 22, 8:46 a.m.
Officer Foreman contacted a student during his class in Miriam Hall regarding a report that his car had been stolen. The complainant stated that his green 1993 Jeep Station Wagon was last seen by him in the SV parking lot at approximately 10 p.m. on February 20, and he had not given anyone permission to use his vehicle. Officer Foreman told the complainant that he had been advised by the Montgomery County Sheriff's office that the vehicle had the steering column peeled and was found running in the driveway of a house in Trotwood, OH. The vehicle was towed by the Trotwood Police Department.
Grand Theft Auto
February 22, 7:47 p.m.
Officer Durian was dispatched to Evanston Avenue in reference to a stolen vehicle complaint. The complainant stated that his green 1998 Ford Mustang was parked behind a house on Evanston at 2:30 p.m. on February 21, and that his roommates had noticed that his vehicle appeared to be missing that night. At 11:10 p.m., while on patrol, Officer Durian observed the complainant's vehicle parked on Stonemill Road. He contacted the complainant, who met Officer Durian at his vehicle. The complainant stated that nothing was missing from his vehicle and he wasn't sure how the vehicle ended up parked on Stonemill.
Criminal Mischief
February 24, 6:04 a.m.
Officers Fritz met with a Parking Services representative in the B parking lot on the report of a vehicle boot which had been tampered with. The complainant stated that the disabling boot on the silver Volkswagen had been tampered with overnight, and that he could not see any new damage to the boot, but that it had been pulled away from the vehicle. Officer Fritz observed that the vehicle boot was attached to the rear driver side tire and that the vehicle boot was partially pulled away from the tire with the boot's hub cover lying on the ground.
Criminal Damaging
February 25, 9:45 p.m.
Officer Pease was dispatched to Marycrest Hall in reference to damaged ceiling tiles. On the fifth floor, he located the remains of eight ceiling tiles. He spoke with a student who stated that at about 9:35 p.m. she heard several male voices yelling and screaming and heard tiles being broken. She believed that there were three different males involved, but did not see any of them.
Criminal Damaging
February 26, 8:35 a.m.
Officer Arnold responded to Marycrest Hall on a report of criminal damaging and found that twenty ceiling tiles on the seventh floor had been damaged. He spoke with several residents on the floor who stated that they believed the damage occurred sometime after 2 a.m. Officers Seipel and Arnold checked the other floors and found two tiles broken on the fourth floor and two tiles damaged on the second floor.
Burglary
February 26, 12:30 p.m.
Officer Seipel met with a student at Benisek Hall to take a burglary report. The complainant stated that he went to a friend's house to watch college basketball on February 23 at 11:15 p.m. and returned February 24 at 2 a.m. He stated that when he got up for class on February 24, he noticed that his iPod, valued at approximately $300, was missing along with twenty dollars in cash out of his wallet. He stated that his house was unlocked and he did not know of any suspects.
