Burglary

March 31, 12:30 p.m.

Officer Durian met with a UD employee at Baujan Field in reference to a possible breaking and entering. The complainant stated that he was checking Baujan Field and noticed damage to the shed that houses soccer equipment. The clasp that secures the padlock had been pried off and entry was gained into the shed. The complainant stated that he doesn't believe anything is missing, but three corner flags were removed and had been placed on the field. It appears someone climbed over the fence and onto the top of the shed and then down onto a trash can to gain entrance into Baujan Field, since there were recent footprints on the top of the shed and on the trash can. There are no suspects at this time.

Aggravated Burglary

Concealed Weapon/Firearm

Criminal Damaging

Drug Trafficking

April 1, 10:18 p.m.

Officer Fritz was on patrol in the University District when he was stopped by several males who stated that at their residence on Kiefaber there were two males claiming they had a gun and forcing their way into the residence. The students described the males with the gun as wearing dark clothing with a dark jacket and a ponytail, and the other as tall with short dark hair and wearing dark pants and a lighter colored shirt. Officers Pease, Schaefer, Durian and Sergeant Swank arrived to assist and the officers surrounded the house. Officer Pease advised that he had located one of the males on the porch. Officer Fritz saw that the suspect, later identified as a 19-year-old who is not a UD student, actively resisting Officer Pease while Officer Pease was giving verbal orders to stop. Officers Fritz and Pease got the suspect on the ground, and Officer Fritz ordered the suspect to stop reaching for something inside his coat, striking the suspect's left shoulder blade when he continued to resist. Officer Pease and Fritz handcuffed the suspect, who was unconscious at this time. Officer Fritz found a large clear plastic bag of suspected marijuana and a digital scale inside the suspect's inside coat pockets. Officers entered the residence and several dozen people began running, stating that there was a gun. The officers in the residence informed Officer Fritz that they had the other suspect in custody, and Squad One E.M.S. personnel were called to transport the unconscious suspect to Miami Valley Hospital. The second suspect was transported to the UD Police Department station, where he used his head to damage the wall in the Interview Room.

Criminal Trespass

April 2, 12:13 a.m.

Officers Pease and Weber were dispatched to Kennedy Union in reference to a suspicious male. Upon arrival, they were informed by the building manager that a white male subject, approximately 50 years old, was in the building and that he has been known to sleep in Torch Lounge. Officer Pease had had a call several weeks earlier about a male around 50 years old sleeping Torch Lounge, but he had not been located at that time. Officers Pease and Weber checked the building and found a male sitting in the commuter lounge with all of the lights out, in front of a computer. When asked why he was in the lounge after closing, the male stated that he did not know that he could not be in the lounge. Officer Pease advised the male that he needed to leave and that there had been reports that he had been seen sleeping Torch Lounge after hours. The male admitted that he had slept overnight in the building on occasion when he was too tired to return home. The male was transported to the Sunoco Gas Station and issued a Criminal Trespass form.
