Crime Log - April 24, 2007


The following incidents were reported to the Department of Public Safety between April 7 and April 15. This log was compiled by Flyer News from actual police reports obtained from the Department of Public Safety.

Criminal Damaging
April 7, 11:37 a.m.

Officer Durian was dispatched to Frericks Way in reference to a damaged vehicle. He met with the victim, a UD student, who stated she parked her red 1999 Pontiac Grand Am on the street in front of her residence the day before and when she returned she noticed someone wrote obscene words on her driver's side passenger door in a black permanent marker. The cost to repair the damage is unknown. A written statement was made and there are no suspects.

Burglary
April 15, 3:14 a.m.

Officer Pease was dispatched to Lowes Street concerning a burglary. He spoke with a UD student who stated he left his residence earlier in the evening. When he returned he discovered his Sony PS3 was missing along with a John Madden Football 2007 game. The bedroom door cannot be secured but it was shut when the student left. There were no signs of forced entry. The value of the items taken is estimated at $720. There are no suspects at this time.

Criminal Damaging
April 15, 3:30 p.m.

Officer Witte was walking through the eastern portion of the S2 parking lot checking for damaged vehicles due to previous reports. He discovered a gold GMC Jimmy with a damaged driver's side door handle caused by being pried open with a large screwdriver. Officer Witte contacted the UD student whose car it was and met him in the parking lot. The student did not find anything missing from the car, as it did not appear that anyone entered.

Criminal Damaging
April 15, 6:40 p.m.

Officer Witte was dispatched to a residence on Lowes Street for a criminal damaging report. He talked with a UD student who stated April 13 someone broke out the lower pane of a side window in his house. The window on the west side was inspected, and it had been struck by a large object, spraying broken glass and glass shards into the room. The object was not found. There was no attempt to gain entry in the house, and there are no suspects.

Burglary
April 15, 7:26 p.m.

Officer Witte was dispatched to a house on K Street for the report of a stolen laptop computer. Upon arrival he met with the victim who said her 2003 Tangent laptop had been removed from the living room. She said she and her roommates had a small gathering April 13 and she placed the computer on a wooden bar in the living room to play music. At lease one roommate was always in the home over the weekend. There are no suspects or witnesses.
