Crime Log - August 31, 2007


The following incidents were reported to the Department of Public Safety during the 2006-07 academic year.
This log was compiled by Flyer News from actual police reports obtained from the Department of Public Safety.

Grand Theft Auto
Oct. 31, 10:30 a.m.

Officer Weber was dispatched to the College Park Center in reference to theft of a vehicle. When he arrived, he met with a UD student who stated she had parked her 1989 black Chevrolet Blazer in the S1 parking lot, and when she returned it was gone. The vehicle is a two-door, black Blazer with a peeling roof. It has a UD Flyers bumper sticker on the bumper and a blue and white sticker with the word 'Cheer' on the rear window.

Theft
Jan. 25, 6:04 p.m.

Officer Arnold arrived at the UD Bookstore concerning a theft. Upon arrival he spoke with the witness, a UD student employee, who stated she noticed a suspicious male enter the store. She said a few minutes later he quickly came downstairs and exited, setting off the merchandise alarms. The surveillance camera caught the suspect picking up books and setting them down. One book he touched was placed in a plastic bag.

Petty Theft
Feb. 14, 2:17 p.m.

Officer Durian was dispatched to Kettering Labs in reference to a theft. The victim stated his blue OGIO book bag was sitting by a doorway on the floor and when he looked later it was not in the same location. Later in the day the victim found the bag on a stairwell in the building. Nothing was missing, and he located another student's bag in a trash can near the men's restroom on the ground floor. Four textbooks were missing from the second bag.

Petty Theft
March 26, 11:43 a.m.

Officer Durian was sent to College Park Center in reference to a complaint about a roommate problem. He met with a student who stated his roommate stole $130 from his wallet. The roommate admitted to taking it and said he would replace the money. At the time of the report he only paid him back $25 and left a note saying the remainder would be coming soon. The victim did not receive the money before spring break.

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
April 21, 11:56 p.m.

Officer Weber and Officer Pease pulled a Red Chevrolet Cavalier over on Frericks Way after observing it traveling at a high speed. Officer Weber saw the passenger place an item in the center console as he approached the car and he found it was a glass pipe with marijuana residue. The passenger received a Minor Misdemeanor Citation and the driver received a verbal warning.
