Crime Log - September 28, 2007
The following incidents were reported to the Department of Public Safety between Sept. 7 and Sept. 20.

Burglary
Sept. 7, 2:17 p.m.
Sergeant Swank met with a male student at his residence on Kiefaber Street. Between Sept. 2 and Sept. 7 someone entered his house and stole his iPod from his room. The house had been left unlocked and at times there were unknown guests inside. The student noticed on Sept. 4 that his iPod was missing although he had previously contacted Public Safety regarding a damaged TV. Swank could not find any sign of forced entry.
Criminal Damaging
Sept. 17, 6:05 p.m.
Officer Cloyd went to S-2 parking lot to meet with a female UD student who said that sometime between Sept. 15 and Sept. 16 someone had damaged her vehicle. Her vehicle is a silver 2003 Hyundai Elantra. An unknown person put a large dent into the left side of the trunk area. There are no scratches or other marks. The student filled out a witness statement form. The amount of the damage is estimated to be $1,500.
Burglary
Sept. 19, 5:46 p.m.
Officer Pease met with two students in Marycrest Complex after receiving a burglary complaint. The two males said that between 10:00 and 10:25 a.m. someone entered their room and took their Tangent laptops and Microsoft Xbox. Their door had been left unlocked. The total loss was about $3,600. The students had checked with all of their friends thinking the theft might have been a joke; they do not know who took the items.
Theft
Sept. 17, 11:58 p.m.
Sergeant Swank was on his patrol route in the University District when a male caught his attention and motioned for him to come over to his vehicle, registered under the University of Dayton. The front passenger window was broken and someone had also stolen the Garmin Navigator and a Dell processor/adapter plug-in car jack. Swank tried to gather any fingerprints from inside of the vehicle but could not find any. There are no suspects.
Criminal Trespass
Sept. 20, 1:58 a.m.
Officer Pease met with a UD student at his university-owned residence on Chambers Street in regard to a suspicious male. Two students said that while taking out their trash they heard someone on their back porch. A white male asked the residents for change and received a Capri Sun juice box. Later that night two officers found a male on Wyoming Street and identified him as a man who had a previous active Criminal Trespass Warning on file.
