Editor-in-Chief

Ren Sikes – Senior, Communication (Journalism)

Ren Sikes is a Senior journalism major with a creative writing minor from College Station, Texas. He uses he/him pronouns and is a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community. Between writing for his school newspapers and working on his novel, he grasps at every opportunity to tell a story and share his opinions. Ren also works at the digital content center for WHIO news channel 7. As the Editor-in-Chief of Flyer News, he looks forward to seeking out stories wherever they may be hiding.


Managing Editor

Luke Osciak – Senior, Communication (Journalism)

Luke is a communication major with a concentration in journalism. He is from Hudson, Ohio, a small town outside of Cleveland. Luke has always shown an interest in stories his whole life and loves journalism for being all about stories. In his free time, he enjoys reading and watching movies. Outside of Flyer News, Luke is the Secretary for SPJ at UD and lifeguards at UD’s Recplex. If he could live anywhere for the rest of his life, it would probably be somewhere by a beach.


News Editor

Lucy Waskiewicz – Senior, Communication, English

Lucy is a senior communication and English major from Pittsburgh. She first dove into the world of hard-hitting journalism when she recruited classmates as reporters for her self-published newspaper in fifth grade and hopes to continue chasing that high as an editor for Flyer News. When not frantically juggling classes and extracurriculars, Lucy enjoys buying new CDs for her beloved 2001 Camry, attending local trivia nights with friends, and excessively spoiling her betta fish, Denver. Look for her while she’s people-watching during her shift at the Kennedy Union Info Desk. She’s probably looking at you.


Sports Editor

Clare Mathews – Junior, Communication (Communication Management), Disability Studies, Health Communication, Race and Social Justice

Clare is a Communication Management student from Elmhurst, Illinois. She is following some of her passions to pursue minors in Disability Studies, Health Communication, and Race and Social Justice. Clare is a member of Phi Beta Chi (UD’s Honors Communication Fraternity) and she also really enjoys working with Dayton Athletics as Social Media Intern. Clare loves listening to music, spending time outdoors, traveling, and, of course, watching lots of sports! Go Flyers!


Opinion Editor

Charley Lustig – Senior, English

Charley is a senior English major who has recently moved to the Dayton area. She possesses a strong love for writing, dating back to the first grade where her writing folder was at least 4 inches thick. Charley hopes to positively contribute to Flyer News and is excited to collaborate with those who are just as passionate about life and writing! Outside of school and reading the occasional romance novel, you will most likely find Charley exploring with her daughter, who is turning out to be quite the little adventurer.


Arts & Entertainment Editor

Kerry Kadel – Junior, English

Kerry Kadel is from Dayton, Ohio, beginning her Junior year at Dayton. Kerry is an English major with a focus in Self-Design. She is always writing stories, taking photos, and drawing any chance she gets. Writing as a contributing writer for Flyer News Freshman year inspired her to expand her interest towards journalism. In her free time, Kerry enjoys watching movies, reading mysteries and thrillers, listening to music, and daydreaming about what to write next.


Social Media Director

Baylee Medvetz – Senior, Marketing, Management

Baylee is a Marketing and Management double major from Cleveland, Ohio. She is involved in Women in Business as the VP of Membership and runs her own small business. She worked as a Consulting intern in Denver this summer at Adobe! Some of her favorite things are traveling, watching New Girl or Adam Sandler movies, and spending time with friends and family.


Digital & Media Coordinator

Olivia Shirk – Junior, Communication (Public Relations), Photography, Political Science

Olivia is from Downers Grove, Illinois, and is starting her junior year at Dayton. She is a Communication major with a concentration in Public Relations with Photography and Political Science double minors. On Dayton’s campus, she is involved in Phi Beta Chi, The Moral Courage Project, and is the secretary of Zeta Tau Alpha. Olivia’s passion for photography started during her freshman year of high school when she took her first class. She continued taking classes and even was the photography editor for both her high school’s yearbook and newspaper. These experiences sparked Olivia’s interest in documentary photography and she has continued it ever since. Olivia is excited to capture this school year for Flyer News.


Podcast Manager & Advertising Associate

Terrance White – Junior, Communication (Communication Management), Marketing, Public Relations

Introducing Terrance White, a Junior studying Communication Management. He plans to pursue a career in the complex world of  Advertising after college. On campus, Terrance leads Phi Beta Chi Honors Communications Fraternity as the President, lends his voice to the College of Arts and Sciences Academic Affairs Committee, and holds a significant role in UD’s PRSSA Chapter as the Vice President. Over the summer Terrance interned at a5 Branding & Digital in the greater Chicago area where he learned client management skills and effective brand communication. Dayton’s close-knit community inspires Terrance to help brands like Porsche, Molson Coors, and Jeep tell new brand stories in the future. Terrance aims to push Flyer News to new heights and tell new stories through podcasting and advertising the Flyer News Brand.


Graphic Designer

Skylar Barlow – Senior, Graphic Design

My name is Skylar Barlow, and I am a senior graphic design major from Dayton, Ohio. I’ve always had a passion for art and love to be creative. I also help design for the Flyer PR team. In my free time, I love going to the gym and hanging out with friends!


Advertising Associate

Bridget Lloyd – Senior, Marketing, Accounting

 Bridget is a senior marketing major with a minor in accounting. She is from Pittsburgh, PA and loves to watch Pittsburgh sports, especially the Steelers. On campus, she is involved with Women in Business and loves the spirit of UD. In her spare time, she enjoys working out, listening to music, watching tv, and spending time with her friends and family. This past summer, she interned as a Small Business Inside Sales Intern with ADP, and she is excited to begin a career in marketing post graduation. She looks forward to another year with Flyer News, helping businesses, people, and organizations spread their message through our media platforms!


Advertising Associate

Katie Costello – Junior, Marketing

Katie is a junior marketing major from Long Island, NY. On campus, she is also involved in Pi Sigma Epsilon (a co-ed business fraternity focused on sales) and is Vice President of Inclusion for Pi Beta Phi. At home, she enjoys her summer job at the beach, cooking, watching and playing sports, and spending time with her family.


Website Technician

Beecher Dunne – Senior, Computer Science

Beecher is a senior from a southwest suburb of Chicago called Lagrange. Growing up with a fascination for computers and technology, he built his first PC when he was 15 years old. This led him to study Computer Science to nurture a large interest in game development. When he’s not studying, you can find him making small video games or being with friends. He hopes to continue working with computers in the future, and is excited for the future of technology.
