Flyer News appoints Hutten as new editor-in-chief

Staff Report

Flyer News has named junior CC Hutten as the 2014-2015 editor-in-chief. Hutten, an English and theatre double major, is a Brentwood, Tenn. native.

Hutten currently serves as the arts and entertainment section editor, and will officially assume the role for issue 26, the final FN issue of the year on April 24.

“At first, I was nervous to apply for the position but I felt as though it was a natural progression in leadership. I have been working for Flyer News for three years and feel like I have learned a lot and I want to take all that I have learned and apply it,” Hutten said.

Emma Ellis, the current editor-in-chief, said Hutten has many qualities that will make her a fantastic editor-in-chief. Her creativity and openness to new ideas will help the paper excel in the year to come.

“CC is one who leads by example, and truly loves what she does. She has done an excellent job, the past year and a half as the A&E editor, and shedding a light on what happens on campus and in the surrounding area,” said Ellis, a senior communication management major.

“I am confident CC and her staff for the 2014-2015 academic year will do a great job handling the issues that arise on campus, as well as shine a light on those doing great things, here at UD,” Ellis said.

Hutten said her main goal during her term as editor-in-chief is to have more responsibility on the web and graphic team, because there will be a greater web presence, along with maintaining a steady print audience.

In the 2014-2015 issues of FN, Hutten said readers can look for a more engaging paper with a strong web presence, and both a fun and professional working environment.

“I always want to hear from people the good, the bad, and the ugly because it’s not just the Flyer News staff’s paper – it’s UD’s paper,” Hutten said.

If interested in joining the staff, contact Hutten at cc.hutten@gmail.com. Applications for next year’s managing editor are due Friday, Feb. 21 at 6 p.m. to KU 232.
